Vinca, commonly known as periwinkle, are low-growing perennials valued for their capacity to knit together soil surfaces with clean, spreading growth. Depending on species, plants may be evergreen and woody, such as Vinca minor and Vinca major, or fully herbaceous and deciduous, as in Vinca herbacea.
