Description An evergreen, creeping fern producing broad, pinnatifid fronds with narrow segments and a distinctive glaucous grey-green surface. The fronds rise from scaly rhizomes and reach around 55cm in our plants, giving a substantial but clearly divided outline.

Native to tropical and subtropical America, it is best treated as a conservatory, greenhouse or houseplant in the UK rather than a hardy garden fern. The name Phlebodium areolatum is now generally treated by Kew as a synonym of Phlebodium pseudoaureum, although alternative horticultural treatments remain in use.
