RANUNCULUS CORTUSIFOLIUS

Large buttercup flowers in enormous heads Mar-May from very large winter-active leaves, 1.5m. Easy in dryish half shade. Takes a few years to get to full size. I interplant it with hostas - one goes down as the other comes up (yes, I have some hostas).
