POPULUS ALBA 'RICHARDII'
POPULUS ALBA 'RICHARDII'
Populus alba is the white poplar tree and this is its primrose-leaved form. Like any poplar or aspen the leaf stalks are flattened side to side which makes the leaves tremble in the breeze. As they twist we are delighted by the silvery yellow reverses. Mine is stooled every second year and makes a round 2m high bush and looks fabulous with purple flowers nearby.
Delicate greyed primrose yellow leaves with white reverses, wonderful with autumn asters. Good foliage for cutting. Cut down to a stump each winter.
