Description A small, mat-forming cactus from Argentina, made up of low, jointed green segments armed with conspicuous white spines. It stays compact, usually around 10cm high, but has a tough, strongly defended character out of proportion to its size.

Yellow-orange to amber flowers are produced in the growing season, contrasting well with the pale spines. Best grown in full sun with sharp mineral drainage, either in a raised bed, alpine house, or pot where winter wet can be controlled.
