A hardy, winter-flowering iris, Iris lazica 'Richard Nutt' produces larger, deeper-coloured blooms than the standard species. Its deep violet-blue flowers appear from September to April, adding welcome colour to the colder months. The tall, dark, broad foliage (40cm) remains attractive year-round.

This variety is tougher and more adaptable than Iris unguicularis, thriving in moist conditions and tolerating partial shade. Ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or damp areas, it provides low-maintenance winter interest with minimal care.
