| Description | An eye-catching intermediate bearded iris, prized for its unusual apricot-orange blooms that light up the garden in late spring. Flowering in May and June, the upright stems reach around 80cm, carrying richly coloured flowers that bring warmth and contrast to mixed borders. This variety is particularly valued for its reliability and persistence, returning year after year with minimal care. Like most bearded irises, it thrives in sunny, well-drained positions where the rhizomes can be warmed by the sun. Interestingly, it also grows well beneath trees that dry the soil in summer but still allow light through — conditions in which many other perennials would struggle. Hardy and easy to grow, Iris ‘Apricorange’ makes a strong addition to both traditional iris plantings and modern schemes. Plant in groups for maximum impact and divide clumps every few years to maintain vigour and abundant flowering. |
