ANEMONE PAVONINA
ANEMONE PAVONINA
Mediterranean plants often grow and flower in winter because the winter in the Mediterranean is wetter. It’s also often colder than Britain. So, fingers crossed, this beauty will flower between frosts and cheer you up. Unimproved clay is inimical but any other soil will do. If you plant it where the soil dries out in summer, so much the better.
Full red, pink or soft purple flowers Apr-May, 25cm. Avoid winter wet sites and very cold sites but otherwise easy. Deciduous dry shade good. Native France to Turkey. Synonym A.hortensis.
