ACANTHUS EMINENS
ACANTHUS EMINENS
A striking perennial known for its large, spiny, holly-like leaves and impressive flower heads of bright deep blue, blooming from March to July. Native to Ethiopia and Kenya, this plant thrives in relatively frost-free environments, producing flowers only when winter temperatures are mild.
It can reach heights between 1 to 5 metres, although it's often advisable to keep it pruned to a lower height for easier management. Hardy and versatile, it adds a bold, architectural element to gardens, particularly in borders or as a focal point. It requires well-drained soil and can tolerate partial shade, making it suitable for various garden settings.
