Long slightly spiny-edged evergreen succulent foliage 75cm, cones of red-orange flowers are borne in the centre of the rosettes Jul-Oct. Tender but will take short periods of frost to -8C. Bromeliaceae, native to high altitudes in Argentina, etc.
