Herbaceous agave relatives forming basal rosettes from rhizomatous or tuberous rootstocks, with flexible leaves ranging from plain green or glaucous to strongly mottled or spotted. Tall, often slender flower stems carry greenish, cream, yellowish or pink tinged tubular flowers, frequently with conspicuous projecting stamens.
