An effective foliage plant with flower as well. Tall shiny black stems and near black leaves, lilac-mauve flowers Sep-Oct, 1.3m. Easy. Bred at the RHS Chiswick in 1902, languished in Ireland till 1990. Synonym Aster laevis 'Arcturus'.
